Congrats, you landed in the right place! I joined Midjourney in July 2022 and worked with it almost every day. I love to experiment with prompts and use different tools for that. In this blog post, I will share my knowledge and expertise to save you a lot of time.

Initially, starting with "one-word prompts", writing short sentences, or a collection of keywords is absolutely fine. Midjourney V 5.2 will give you already here great results.

Crafting a well-written prompt is an art form in itself. A clear and descriptive text description is essential for generating amazing images.

Start with a primary subject:

- A beautiful woman (that's my favorite subject of all time!)

Describe her look:

- short red hair, green eyes, pale skin, feminine body

What is she wearing?

- a beige lace dress

Where is she?

- on a white-sand beach

Add parameters --ar 4:5 for aspect ratio and --s 400 for stylize. The higher the --s, the more the Midjourney style will influence the image.

By default, Midjourney V 5.2 will produce a photorealistic image if you don't give it particular keywords to create an illustration.

To make this image look more like an illustration, you have several options.

Go to /settings and choose V 4 (left) or Niji 5 (right).

Add an art style in front of your prompt, which will create an illustration. Good examples are Art Deco, Art Nouveau, Psychedelic art, and many others.

Words at the beginning of the prompt have more influence, than words added at the end of the prompt.

You can also add one or several illustrators/artists/fashion designers to create a beautiful Midjourney illustration.

Different art techniques can change your AI image dramatically. I love the dreamy look of "alcohol ink" or the colorful "ebru" technique.

Experiment with specific colors and color palettes, and try to add unusual colors. Here are some examples, you can try:

1. Iridescent Teal
2. Midnight Amethyst
3. Citrus Sorbet
4. Velvet Indigo
5. Frosted Lavender
6. Golden Apricot
7. Electric Cobalt
8. Mauve Mist
9. Crimson Velvet
10. Celestial Turquoise

In my examples, I used the colors: Frosted Lavender, Golden Apricot, and Iridescent Teal.

If you like the photorealistic version more, add more photography-related terminology to your prompt. Camera, lenses, light, photo studio setup, and bokeh are helpful keywords.

This prompt was creating a green dress; my intention was to have a beige lace dress. Midjourney often takes the eyes or hair color and applies it to the outfit. For the right image, I removed "green eyes" from the prompt, and voila, there it was, my beige lace dress!

I often ask ChatGPT for help, when I experiment with new ideas. You can get in seconds unusual colors, art genres, or techniques, which will make your prompt unique. Sometimes I ask for "unusual abstract words", like in this example:

1. Incandescent
2. Flamboyant
3. Opulent
4. Lustrous
5. Vivacious
6. Iridescent
7. Ravishing
8. Siren-like
9. Electrifying
10. Luxuriant

You can also ask for unusual words with explanations for human characteristics:

"Certainly, here are 10 words describing human characteristics with explanations:

1. **Ebullient:** Ebullient describes a person who is cheerful, enthusiastic, and overflowing with energy and excitement. It often denotes a highly positive and vibrant personality.

2. **Chimerical:** Chimerical describes someone who is imaginative, whimsical, and prone to having fantastical or unrealistic ideas and dreams. It's often used to characterize creative individuals.

3. **Ephemeral:** Ephemeral refers to things that are fleeting or short-lived. When used to describe a person, it suggests someone who is transient or doesn't stay in one place or state for long.

4. **Mellowness:** Mellowness is a quality of being relaxed, calm, and free from tension. It often describes someone who is easygoing, serene, and not easily agitated.

5. **Resilient:** A resilient person has the ability to bounce back from adversity or difficult situations. They are emotionally and mentally tough, able to withstand challenges and setbacks.

6. **Sanguine:** Sanguine describes a person who is optimistic, cheerful, and confident, often in the face of uncertainty or difficulty. It reflects a positive and hopeful outlook on life.

7. **Nurturing:** A nurturing individual is caring, supportive, and attentive, particularly in helping others grow and develop. This trait is often associated with parents and caregivers.

8. **Indomitable:** Indomitable refers to someone who cannot be defeated or subdued, no matter the odds. It signifies a strong-willed and unyielding character.

9. **Empathetic:** An empathetic person has the ability to understand and share the feelings and perspectives of others. They are sensitive and compassionate, making them good listeners and caregivers.

10. **Sardonic:** Sardonic describes a person who is sarcastic, mocking, and often uses humor to express skepticism or cynicism. It implies a wry and sometimes dark sense of humor.

These words capture various facets of human nature and behavior, allowing for more precise descriptions of individuals and their personalities."

Make also Variations; the right image is a "strong variation" of the left one. You can also use vary(region) to change only the dress, or the face, or make unwanted, strange hands with six fingers disappear...
